JR Simplot General Laborer (FG - Grand Forks, ND) in Grand Forks, North Dakota
The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held organization, with roots firmly planted in agriculture and agriculture-related businesses. We currently have a position available at our food processing facility in Grand Forks, ND. Grand Forks Simplot is a potato processing plant that packages two million pounds of potato product a day. Customers include Burger King, Sonic and McDonalds.
This position will ensure that the plant equipment and surrounding areas are kept clean, sanitary, and safe. General Laborers are able to work anywhere necessary to help the plant operate efficiently. This position reports to the Process Team Leader and Shift Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES • Ensures additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, are handled in a manner necessary to meet operational and food group standards.• Assists the Wet End Team with each product line.• Assists with shut downs, startups, and cleaning tasks. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS • Must have successfully completed the Job Skill Evaluation to begin training in the position. • Must complete the Structured Job Training program within recommended timeframe to remain in the position permanently.• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculate percentages to make proper adjustments and calibrations, as required.• Must be able to read, understand, and communicate in English in a manner to successfully complete job duties.• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.• Must be able to demonstrate manual and physical dexterity.• Must be able to work with hazardous and corrosive chemicals in small areas.• Must be able to tell time and be able to convert regular time to military time.• Must be able to use a computer and successfully navigate through various applications. Must be proficient at computer system data entry.• Must be able to maneuver in close quarters and climb stairs, ladders, and catwalks on a regular basis.• Must be able to stand on concrete floors for long periods of time.• Must be able to work in extreme environments (cold, hot, humid and slippery).• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.• Must be able to identify hazards and report to appropriate personnel.• Must have an acceptable attendance record.• Must have an acceptable safety record.• Must be able to work in stressful situations.• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to push/pull a minimum of 100 pounds (waste barrel). PAY: $14.85-15.30/hour - Depending on shift

Employees work a 2-week rotation, working Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday (4 shifts) on Week 1 and Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday (3 shifts) on Week 2. Employees will be assigned to either 7AM to 7PM or 7PM to 7AM shifts. The monthly schedule does not include rotating from nights to days. Employees enjoy having a 3-day weekend every other week.
