JR Simplot Rework Blend Laborer (FG - Grand Forks, ND) in Grand Forks, North Dakota

The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held organization, with roots firmly planted in agriculture and agriculture-related businesses. We currently have a position available at our food processing facility in Grand Forks, ND. Grand Forks Simplot is a potato processing plant that packages two million pounds of potato product a day. Customers include Burger King, Sonic and McDonalds.

SUMMARY This position will ensure released product is reworked/blended back into line at all times. These duties should be performed in a manner consistent with safety, quality and production goals.

NATURE AND SCOPE: This position reports to the Packaging Supervisor and Shift Manager. The individual in this position will be required to fully understand the purpose and operation of the packaging area. It is imperative the person(s) conduct themselves in a manner that ensures alertness and constant awareness of the safe operation of equipment and surroundings. The individual in this position will accomplish these tasks by utilizing a team concept through working with team members, following direction and instructions from a team leader or manager. Work relationships and communications are key ingredients to the success of the individual holding this position. Overtime in this position may be required to meet operational goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Ensures there is no injury to self or others by following safe work practices (including Standard Operating Procedures) and policies. 2. Food Safety is everyone's responsibility. 3. Attend and participate in all training activities for the position. Ensure the acquired skills and knowledge are applied. 4. Ensures sanitation of equipment and housekeeping of the entire facility. 5. Ensures self-compliance with Company policies, Standard Operating Procedures, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement. 6. Must be a team player and help to meet operational goals. 7. Conducts oneself in a professional manner and ensures that personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job functions while representing the Company. 8. Performs all such other duties as may be reasonably assigned by Manager. 9. Ensures continuous open-bag blending of released product to the line as specified by packaging. 10. Reworks product including pulling cases off of the pallets, opening the cases, tearing the bags open and putting the product in totes or the line; lift and move pallets when needed; make totes and liners when required. 11. During downtimes, such as cleanups and breaks in the line, conducts open-bag and inspection work. 12. Inspects product to remove unusable product in accordance with all applicable company and customer regulations. Must immediately notify the lead, operator, or supervisor of any foreign material such as glass, metal, rocks, rags, gloves, tools, etc. 13. Responsible for loading cases onto the KD Fiber system as part of a rotation with other Rework Blenders and/or General Laborers. Must ensure proper flow and distribution of cases through the machines. Must quickly identify and report issues. 14. Responsible for cleanliness of work area and equipment and ensures work area meets company standards for cleanliness. Maintains lines and products in accordance with sanitation procedures. 15. Responsible to report malfunctions to a mechanic, lead, or supervisor. 16. Responsible for training of new employees. 17. May assist the Packaging Team with product line. 18. May assist with shut downs, start ups, and cleaning tasks. 19. Reads and understands training materials, and other information related to the job and complete paperwork in a timely, efficient manner so the paperwork is thorough and legible.

REQUIREMENTS • Available to work night shift (7pm to 7am) and overtime shifts as needed. • Math and computer skills. • Must be able to perform activities such as walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, stair and ladder climbing on a daily basis. • Must be able to lift a case of French fries - maximum 50 lbs.

PAY: $14.85/hour + night shift differential

Employees work a 2-week rotation, working Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday (4 shifts) on Week 1 and Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday (3 shifts) on Week 2. Employees will be assigned to either 7AM to 7PM or 7PM to 7AM shifts. The monthly schedule does not include rotating from nights to days. Employees enjoy having a 3-day weekend every other week.
